NONOVULIN /against Estrus Anti-Estrus for Dogs and Cats – 30 tablets/box
Active substance: Megestrol Acetate 10 mg and excipients: lactose, corn starch, povidone, talc, magnesium stearate, and aerosol.
Species for which the VMP is intended: Dogs and cats.
Therapeutic indications: To block (interrupt) and delay estrus in dogs and cats; to soothe sexually aroused male dogs and cats and related behavioral changes (satire); in miliary eczema in cats. Megestrol is a semi-synthetic progesterone derivative with progesterone-like action (progestogen). Inhibits the secretion of gonadotropic hormones from the hypothalamus, respectively gonadotropic hormones (follicle-stimulating and alkalinizing) from the adenohypophysis, follicular maturation, and ovulation. A pregnancy-like condition occurs without estrus. It is also active when used internally. The product has antiestrogenic, anti-ovulatory, and anti-fertility effects.
Contraindications: Do not use in immature dogs and cats; not to be used in pregnant bitches and cats and in pseudopregnancy; in bitches and cats with gynecological disorders on a hormonal basis and in gynecological infections.
Adverse reactions: With prolonged use (non-compliance with the mode of administration) in high doses (overdose) apathy and obesity of treated dogs and cats, glandulocystic hyperplasia of the endometrium, fibrocystic degeneration, and tumors of the mammary gland and isometric, metritis, metritis, pyrites Diabetes mellitus. In young, immature animals, there is often a lack of estrus and infertility. When treatment is stopped even at the recommended doses, there is an irregularity in the sexual cycle.

Posology for each animal species, method, and route of administration: Administered orally in the following doses depending on the type of animal:
Dogs: for interruption of estrus – 1 – 2 mg/kg m. (average 1.5 mg/kg m.) for 3 days, starting with the appearance of the first signs of dispersal (swelling of the vulva, the appearance of blood flocs in the estrous secretion) and 0.5 – 1 mg/kg m. in the next 7 days (1 – 2 tablets in the first 3 days and 1/2 – 1 tablet in the next 7 days); for delay (temporary postponement) of estrus (during transport, participation in exhibitions and competitions, etc.) – 0.5 mg/kg m. daily, starting 7 days before the expected heat and continuing as long as the delay of estrus is necessary (minimum 14 days), and if necessary to continue the effect, after a break of 10 days, the procedure can be repeated. This can only be done once every 6 months; in sexually aroused male dogs (satyriasis) with or without aggression or other behavioral changes, the same doses are used for interruption of estrus in bitches.
Cats: to stop estrus – 5 mg/cat (1/2 tablet) for 8 consecutive days, starting with the first signs of estrus; for estrus delay – 2.5 mg/cat (1/4 tablet) 3 times a week throughout the estrous period; in satire in cats – 2 mg/kg m. for 30 days (until the signs disappear).
